Polar plunge

Nolan Pittman, 8, didn’t waste his time making snow angels. Instead, he took a bare-bellied dive into the inch or two of snow at his house in Weems Sunday morning. He is the son of Rob and Sarah Beth Pittman. By mid-afternoon the snow had changed over to rain and melted away most of the white stuff in lower Lancaster County, but in other parts of the Northern Neck accumulations of up to three inches remained on the ground through Monday. A wintry-mix of snow, rain and ice continued into Tuesday. Photo by Lisa Hinton-Valdrighi
