A week of spotty storms and showers across the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula didn’t get eastern Virginia out of its drought conditions, but it was a welcome relief for farmers and gardeners. Rain estimates varied across the region but some four to five inches were reported in upper Lancaster County between Tuesday, July 7, and Friday, July 10, while Weems received about an inch of rain overnight on Saturday, July 11, and another half an inch on Saturday, July 12.
