Lancaster punched its ticket to the Class 1 girls basketball tournament last Wednesday with a win over Northampton then lost to Rappahannock last Friday for a second time in as many weeks to make its first state contest a road game.

The Lady Devils earned an automatic berth in the state tournament with a 64-50 win over the Eastern Shore’s Yellow Jackets in a Region 1A semifinal at LHS last Wednesday. But the Northern Neck’s Rappahannock, which had beaten LHS a week earlier in the district tourney final, beat the host Lady Devils 43-26 in the tournament championship.

The win gives the Raiderettes home court advantage in the Class 1 quarterfinal tomorrow, March 6. Rappahannock will host Region 1B runner-up Riverheads at Lancaster High School at 6 p.m. Lancaster will head to Sussex Central High School tomorrow to play Region 1B champion Surry at 7 p.m.
