RCC celebrates 50 years

GLENNS—Rappahannock Community College (RCC) on January 11 celebrated its 50th anniversary with an open house at the Glenns Campus, marking the first meeting of the college board back in 1970, which “met to chart the future course of the only institution for higher education in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula,” their history reads.

Typical of institutional milestones like these, there was nostalgia for the early years and excitement about just how far the college has come. And for an institution whose mission is to foster learning in the minds of young and old, there was also a feeling of satisfaction in how the surrounding communities and the people living in them have been transformed by…
