It happened in a split second.
Lancaster’s Adam Wilmore was riding a six-point lead late in the second period when Castlewood’s Casey Bush flipped Wilmore for two points then the pin.
“It happened so fast I don’t know what I could have done,” said Wilmore.
The win gave Bush the Virginia High School League state championship in the 195-pound weight class. Wilmore received a silver medal as the state runner-up in the 11-man division.
“My goal was to get to the finals, so now I’m ready for next year,” said Wilmore, who is a three-time state qualifier as a junior. Wilmore finished third in his weight class as a freshman and fifth last year.
