Region A trio place in top 10 at Class 1 state golf tournament

Region A had three golfers finish in the top 10 at last week’s Class 1 state championship, including Lancaster’s Ben Pittman, Northumberland’s Chase Fisher and Middlesex’s Peyton Lambert.

Pittman, Lancaster’s only state qualifier, was 8 over par 80 on the mountainous Pete Dye River Course at Virginia Tech to finish in a fifth-place tie with Talen Gentry of Galax.

Pittman, a sophomore, shot a 40 on both the front and back nines with a birdie on the par 5, 529-yard hole #16.
