Lancaster broke a few records, produced a state champion and finished as the second best Class 1 team in the Virginia High School League’s boys Class 1/2 combined state indoor track and field meet at Liberty University on Thursday, February 29.

“I will say as a whole as far as Class 1, the competition was stiff. Definitely in the 1600 meter. The competition was nationally ranked, which goes to show we can compete with any team, from [Class] 1 to 6,” said LHS coach Draper Washington.
“We did make some mistakes in some crucial races, but if we’re going to make the mistakes, let’s make them now and clean those things up for outdoor [track season],” he added. “I look at indoor like spring practice for football so we’re in a very good position for outdoor season.”
Williamsburg-based Bruton won both the girls and boys state championships….
