Ribbon cutting celebrates opening of Calluna and The Bookshelf on Church Street

On Thursday, July 25, the Lancaster By The Bay Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of two new local businesses: Calluna Gathered Goods and The Bookshelf on Church.
The ceremony, held at the new business locations, 53 West Curch Street, Kilmarnock, was attended by a distinguished group of local leaders and community members. Among those present were family members of the business owners, Kilmarnock Mayor Shawn Donahue, town manager Susan Cockrell, economic development coordinator Sharon Phillips and Lancaster by the Bay Chamber of Commerce executive director Leslie Jingluski.
“We are thrilled to welcome Calluna and The Bookshelf on Church to Kilmarnock,” said Jingluski. “Their presence adds tremendous value to our town, and we are confident that they will thrive and contribute positively to our local economy.”
The ribbon-cutting event was a moment of celebration and anticipation, reflecting the collective hope for the continued prosperity and development of Kilmarnock. The Chamber is committed to supporting these new businesses and ensuring their success as they embark on this exciting journey, she said.

From left, MJ Anderson, owner of That Damn Mary Brewing Company, led a tour of the brewing room at the new business on West Church Street. The brewing company is still under construction but was open for tours during the merchants’ celebration. That Damn Mary also has a Gloucester location. The West Church Street location will hold a grand opening October 19.

Calluna Gathered Goods owner Sarah Jarboe greeted customers at her vintage home furnishing and gift store at 53 West Church Street, Kilmarnock, during the street’s grand opening event Saturday, July 27. The event showcasing the street’s boutiques and beer gardens featured sales, giveaways, music and food. “It was everything we dreamed of and more,” said Karen Burke, owner of WATR and Fin & Pearl. “We were so excited and thrilled to see so many new faces. So many new people found us and know where we are now, and we proved we are ‘the best little side street in Kilmarnock’.”
