HEATHSVILLE—Richard “Dick” Ogg, 74, of Heathsville died on August 7, 2024.
He was the son of Wade Mason Ogg Jr. and Virginia Delp Ogg. He was well known in the Northern Neck as the owner and operator of Farmer’s Service in Burgess for over 40 years.
Dick loved to be outside, whether working on his lawn or gardening. Dick especially loved being on the beach. That was his happy place. You might find him fishing or just sitting on the beach relaxing. His family spent many weekends camping in Nags Head, N.C., and many Christmas holidays in the Florida Keys.
Dick loved his tight-knit Marshalls Beach community. He enjoyed grilling and was always sharing the vegetables he grew in his garden with his neighbors. He loved his grandchildren and would enjoy watching them playing on the beach while listening to his favorite “oldies” music.
Dick is survived by his children, Richard Bryan Ogg, Brandy Virginia Edwards (Ron) and Kimberly Cannon Jones; his grandchildren, Trenton Edwards, Gabrielle Ogg and Mason and Walker Jones; and one great-grandchild, Kaden Edwards; his brother, Wade Mason Ogg III; and his sister, Nancy Ogg Tripp; along with his nieces and nephews, Jerry and Michelle Turner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Samuel Bruce Ogg.
There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
