Sheriff’s Report 02-23-23

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against four individuals.

Felonies

Ernest O’Neal Dameron, 50, of Lancaster was charged February 15 with driving while intoxicated after having been convicted of at least two previous driving while intoxicate offenses.

Donovan Ramon Gregory, 23, was charged February 16 with a parole/probation violation on a felony offense.

Steve Deroger Lee Waller Jr., 25, of Kilmarnock was charged February 19 on two counts of abduction, child neglect/abuse and assault and battery of a family member.

Misdemeanor

A Weems woman, 24, was charged February 16 with brandishing a firearm in such a manner to reasonably induce fear in the mind of another of being shot or injured.

Activity report

February 13: Staff responded to the 400 block of Steamboat Road for a suspicious vehicle, to the 900 block of Granville Bay Road for a reckless driver and disorderly conduct, to the 500 block of Gaskins Road for a wanted person, to the 12200 block of Mary Ball Road for threats made to shoot another person, to the 300 block of Ocran Road for a missing juvenile, and to the 100 block of Beach Road for suspicious activity. 

February 14: Staff responded to the 100 block of Fox Hill Drive to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) for the report of a domestic assault.

February 15: Staff responded to the 200 block of Cherry Point Drive for the report of a domestic disturbance involving alcohol, to the 600 block of Newtown Road for a wanted person, to the 900 block of Rappahannock Drive for the theft of merchandise, to the 600 block of Johns Neck Road for the theft of a 9mm handgun, to the 100 block of Turner Lane for a verbal disagreement with alcohol involved, and to the 100 block of North Main Street to assist KPD with suspicious activity.

February 16: Staff responded to a walk-in report of brandishing a firearm that occurred at the 200 block of Greenwood Court, and to the 100 block of Fox Den Road for the report of a sudden death. 

February 17: Staff responded to the 10300 block of River Road to check the welfare of a resident, to the 100 block of Beach Creek Road for a possible suicidal person with firearms, to the 100 block of Heatherfield Court to assist KPD with the report of a property dispute, and to the 400 block of North Main Street to assist KPD with a robbery.

February 18: Staff responded to a walk-in report of a property dispute, to the 100 block of Lancaster Drive for a suicide attempt by an overdose of narcotics, and to the 10600 block of River Road for an abduction and assault of a family member. 

February 19: Staff responded to Historyland Highway and Maon Road to assist Richmond County Sheriff’s Office with a single-vehicle traffic crash that resulted in a fatality, to the 100 block of King Carter Drive for a sudden death, to Mary Ball and Boys Camp roads for tree debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to the 100 block of South Main Street to assist KPD with a two-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 100 block of Irvington Road to assist KPD with a fight in progress involving juveniles.

Staff also conducted 23 traffic stops, issued 10 summonses, assisted six motorists, recorded two deer strike accidents, handled 10 calls for traffic control, investigated three building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged an inmate transport, received 24 E911 hang up calls, and fielded five calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to a carbon monoxide alarm on Mockingbird Lane.

Kilmarnock VFD responded to a traffic crash on South Main Street.
