Sheriff’s Report 02-24-22

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against four individuals.

Felonies

Daryl Collin Mitchell, 34, of Lancaster was charged February 17 with probation violation on a felony offense.

Raymond Purnell Waddy II, 46, of Weems was charged February 17 with probation violation on a felony offense.

Joseph Derrell Harcum, 34, of White Stone was charged February 19 with probation violation on a felony offense.

Misdemeanor

A Weems man, 37, was charged February 14 with eight counts of petit larceny/shoplifting.

Activity report

February 14: Staff responded to the 2600 block of White Chapel Road to check the welfare of a resident, to the 400 block of Pine Trail for vandalism of a building, to a reckless driver on Mary Ball Road in White Stone, and to the 500 block of Wilson Lane for suspicious activity.

February 15: Staff responded to a walk-in report of a larceny from a person.

February 16: Staff responded to the 400 block of Twin Branch Road to assist Social Services with a welfare check, to the 600 block of Whispering Pines Road to check the welfare of a resident, to a walk-in report of the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle that occurred at the 3400 block of Lara Road, to the 300 block of Devils Bottom Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 9000 block of Mary Ball Road for debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to the 800 block of Clark Point Drive to check the welfare of a resident, and to the 500 block of Lancaster Creek Drive for a juvenile with a firearm and vandalism of a residence.

February 17: Staff responded to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for the report of a disabled vehicle, and to the 100 block of Turner Lane for a wanted person.

February 18: Staff responded to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for a verbal disagreement, to the 16900 block of Mary Ball Road for a disorderly person, to the 100 block of Jeffrey Avenue for a fall victim, and to River and Ridgefield Farm roads for an abandoned vehicle.

February 19: Staff responded to the 100 block of Harris Road to assist Kilmarnock Police Department with a person with an altered mental status, to the 500 block of North Main Street for a possible intoxicated driver, to Iberis Road and Eagle Trace for a downed tree in the roadway, and to the 800 block of Clark Point Road to check the welfare of a resident.

February 20: Staff responded to the 900 block of Chesapeake Drive to check the welfare of a resident after being alerted by a family member, to the 100 block of Peake Drive for the report of gunshots in the area, and to a walk-in report of a fraud that occurred in the 1800 block of Windmill Point Road.

Staff also conducted 20 traffic stops, issued 10 summonses, assisted a motorist, recorded two deer strike accidents, handled seven calls for traffic control, investigated five building alarms, logged an inmate transport, received 14 E911 hang-up calls, and fielded a call for animal control service.

Fire calls

Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a debris in the roadway call on North Main Street, with upper Lancaster VFD to a brush fire on White Chapel Road, and with White Stone VFD to a fire/smoke alarm on Southport Lane.

White Stone VFD also responded to a possible brush fire on Windmill Point Road.
