Sheriff’s Report 06-02-22

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against three individuals.

Felonies

Curtis Odell Kelly, 46, of Weems was charged May 23 with possession of a Schedule I/II drug, assault and battery of a family member, disorderly conduct and appearing intoxicated in public.

Dere’Onta Jauntice Redmond, 21, of Lancaster was charged May 23 with seven counts of malicious shooting, two counts of shooting a firearm from a vehicle, two counts of using a firearm in the commission of felony, maliciously shooting or throw a missile at an occupied building, maliciously shooting/throwing a missile at a vehicle and two counts of damage to property valued at over $1,000.

Misdemeanor

A Hague woman, 31, was charged May 27 with violation of bail/pretrial services on a misdemeanor offense and violation of bail/pretrial services on a felony offense.

May 23: Staff responded to the 300 block of Carters Cove Drive for an abandoned boat trailer, to the 200 block of Nuttsville Road for an attempted burglary, to the 900 block of Ocran Road for gunshots, to Lara and Alfonso roads for a downed tree in the roadway, to the 400 block of Church Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a domestic disturbance involving alcohol, and to the 10800 block of Mary Ball Road for suspicious activity.

May 24: Staff responded to the 300 block of Callis Road for violation of a court order, to Chases Road and Apple Grove Boulevard for a suspicious person, to the 500 block of North Main Street for an assault, to the 400 block of North Main Street to assist KPD with a domestic disturbance involving a juvenile, to the 8600 block of Mary Ball Road for a disorderly and intoxicated person, and to the 600 block of Saint Andrews Lane for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

May 25: Staff responded to the 100 block of Old Orchard Road for a suspicious person, to the 2300 block of Taylors Creek Road for suspicious activity, to the 900 block of Griffins Landing Road for a wanted person, to River and White Chapel roads to assist Virginia State Police (VSP) with a traffic stop, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a reckless driver, and to the 800 block of Mary Ball Road for a juvenile behavior issue.

May 26: Staff responded to the 500 block of Pinckardsville Road for an abandoned vehicle, to the 10000 block of River Road for suspicious activity, to the Ottoman Ferry area for two suspicious males in a white Ford pickup, to the 100 block of Oak Farm Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 1800 block of Windmill Point Road to check the welfare of a resident.

May 27: Staff responded to the 100 block of Clark Lane for a trespasser, to the 5200 block of Mary Ball Road for an abandoned vehicle, to the 600 block of North Main Street for a disorderly person, to Mary Ball Road in Lancaster for a reckless driver, to the 10000 block of River Road for an intoxicated driver, to the 300 block of Cedar Pointe Drive for a trailer parked partially in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to the 100 block of South Main Street to assist VSP with a felony traffic stop, to East Church Street for a pedestrian walking in the middle of the roadway; and to the 600 block of Chesapeake Drive for a sexual assault.

May 28: Staff responded to the 1700 block of Black Stump Road for an attempted construction fraud, to the Norris Bridge for a reckless driver, to the 700 block of Belmont Drive for gunshots, and to the 800 block of Nuttsville Road for a trespasser.

May 29: Staff responded to the 600 block of Nuttsville Road for a downed tree in the roadway, to the 900 block of Johns Neck Road for an attempted suicide, to the 8300 block of Mary Ball Road for a reckless driver, to the 4200 block of Windmill Point Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

Staff also conducted 23 traffic stops, issued 12 summonses, handled seven calls for traffic control, investigated two building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged three inmate transports, received 12 E911 hang-up calls, and fielded two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

The Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to Mary Ball Road to setup a landing zone for emergency medical services and to a fire/smoke alarm on Doggett Lane.
