Sheriff’s Report 09-01-22

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against two individuals.

Felony

Oriel Purchell Lee, 33, of Lancaster was charged August 26 with a probation violation on a felony offense.

Misdemeanor

A White Stone woman, 27, was charged August 26 with appearing intoxicated in public.

Activity report

August 22: Staff responded to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to the 100 block of Greentown Road for suspicious activity, and to the 200 block of Buzzards Neck Road for threats to harm another.

August 23: Staff responded to the 300 block of Campbell Road for a possible burglary, to the 200 block of Jeffrey Avenue to check the welfare of a resident, and to the 800 block of Clark Point Drive to check the welfare of a resident.

August 24: Staff responded to White Chapel Road for a downed tree blocking one lane of traffic, to the 10000 block of Mary Ball Road for suspicious activity, to the 1300 block of Weems Road for an attempt to obtain money by false pretense, to the 16900 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 2100 block of Iberis Road for livestock in the roadway, to the 400 block of Christ Church Road for suspicious activity, and to the 100 block of Greentown Road for abandoned property.

August 25: Staff responded to the 100 block of Nuttsville Road to assist Newport News Police Department with a motor vehicle crash investigation, to the 100 block of Irvington Road for a suspicious person, to the Norris Bridge for a large piece of metal in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to the 200 block of Weems Road for a juvenile behavior issue, to a walk-in report of threats made to harm another with a weapon, and to the 400 block of Rappahannock Drive for an assault.

August 26: Staff responded to the 2500 block of Merry Point Road for a wanted person, to the 200 block of Rocky Neck Road for a domestic disturbance, and to the Norris Bridge for a possible suicidal pedestrian near the guard rail.

August 27: Staff responded to the 200 block of North Main Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with suspicious activity, to the 4100 block of Windmill Point Road to check the welfare of a resident, to the 100 block of Norwood Church Road to assist Virginia State Police with suspicious activity, to the 100 block of North Main Street to participate in a checking detail with KPD where 148 vehicles were checked with eight summonses issued.

August 28: Staff responded to the 100 block of Pinckardsville Road for grass thrown out into the roadway nearly causing a vehicle crash, to a walk-in report of a stolen Phoenix Arms 25 caliber semi-auto handgun that is nickel plated that occurred at the 400 block of Corrotoman Drive, and to a walk-in complaint to obtain a protective order against another person.

Staff also conducted 33 traffic stops, issued 29 summonses, assisted two motorists, recorded three deer strike accidents, handled nine calls for traffic control, investigated five building alarms, logged an inmate transport, received 22 E911 hang up calls, and fielded five calls for animal control.

Fire calls

White Stone and Kilmarnock volunteer fire departments responded to a vehicle fire on West Bay Drive.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a lift assistance request on Woodbrock Drive.
