Sheriffs’ Reports 02-09-23

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against three individuals.

A White Stone man, 59, was charged January 31 with driving while under the influence of alcohol, and reckless driving.

A Lancaster man, 29, was charged February 1 with driving a motor vehicle while the accused was revoked for driving under the influence, and driving an uninspected motor vehicle.

A Reedville man, 66, was charged February 4 with driving while intoxicated or while under the influence of a narcotic drug, and reckless driving.

Activity report

January 30: Staff responded to the 500 block of Goodluck Road for the report of child abuse, to the 800 block of Clark Point Drive for suspicious activity, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a disabled vehicle causing a traffic hazard, to the 100 block of Washington Street for larceny of U.S. currency and several bottles of alcohol from a vehicle.

January 31: Staff responded to a walk-in report of trespassing that occurred at the 200 block of River Bluff Road, to Windmill Point Road and Cypress Lane for a vehicle in the ditch, to the 100 block of Jones Drive to check the welfare of a resident, and to the 200 block of Lowery Creek Road for a runaway juvenile.

February 1: Staff responded to a walk-in report of check fraud/forgery.

February 2: Staff responded to the 6000 block of Mary Ball Road for a lost/stolen wallet.

February 3: Staff responded to the 1700 block of Taylors Creek Road to check the welfare of a resident, and to the 100 block of Sandy Lane for a runaway juvenile.

February 4: Staff responded to the 1300 block of Weems Road for trespassers, to Browns Store and Crawfords Corner roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 1300 block of Weems Road for a trespasser, to the 18500 block of Mary Ball Road for suspicious activity, to the 3400 block of Newtown Road to check the welfare of a resident.

February 5: Staff responded to the 1300 block of Weems Road for trespassers, to Irvington Road and School Street for a two-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 2100 block of Windmill Point Road for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Staff also conducted 20 traffic stops, issued 13 summonses, assisted two motorists, recorded two deer strike accidents, handled 11 calls for traffic control, investigated six building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged two inmate transports, received 17 E911 hang up calls, and fielded five calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a traffic crash on East Church Street.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to power lines down on Mary Ball Road and a traffic crash at Crawfords Corner and Browns Store roads.

White Stone VFD responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Flowering Field.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against 14 individuals.

Felonies

Curneshia Channin Porter, 21, of Heathsville was charged January 24 on an Essex County warrant for grand larceny. She was arrested by NCSO.

Elijah Walter McKinley, 23, of Heathsville was charged January 24 on a capias issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to appear in court on a felony charge.

Tyler Resean Tomlin, 27, of Kilmarnock was charged January 26 with strangling/impeding blood circulation, causing injury. He also was charged with assault and battery of a family member. These were Northumberland County charges served by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael Scott Kappel, 55, of Heathsville was served January 27 with six direct indictments issued by the Middlesex County Circuit Court for receiving advance pay for construction over the amount of $1,000, unlawful act per business regulations, transact business without being an authorized company and three counts of working without a license/violating contractor regulations. He was served by Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO).

Jonnie Wayne Forester, 68, of Kilmarnock was charged January 28 with two felony counts of possession of child pornography.

Misdemeanors

A Farnham man, 26, was charged January 20 on a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to comply with pre-trial services by testing positive for drugs. He was served by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO).

A Fredericksburg man, 45, was charged January 20 with violating a family abuse protective order.

A Farnham man, 40, was charged January 23 with two misdemeanor charges of practicing a profession without a license. These were Northumberland County warrants served by RCSO.

A Farnham man, 36, was charged January 23 with practicing a profession without a license. This was a Northumberland County warrant served by RCSO.

A Lottsburg man, 25, was charged January 23 on a Richmond County warrant for substitution of a sample for a drug screening. He was served by the NCSO.

A Heathsville man, 24, was charged January 24 on a capias issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge.

A Callao man, 34, was charged January 25 with violating a protective order.

A Lottsburg woman, 36, was changed January 31 on a capias/attachment of the body by the Northumberland County General District Court for failing to appear in court on an original charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.

A Lottsburg man, 36, was charged February 1 with a capias to show cause for failing to comply with his probation by testing positive for drugs.
