Coffee with a cop

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will host “coffee with a cop” at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at Front Porch Coffeehouse, 139 South Main Street, Kilmarnock.

Members of the public are urged to meet and chat with law enforcement representatives.

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges agains five individuals.

Felonies

Deontra Ta-Von Lampkin, 29, of 7725 Jessie duPont Memorial Highway was charged March 14 with two counts of breaking and entering a building with intent to commit larceny; intentionally destroying, defacing or damaging property valued at more than $1,000; grand larceny; and two counts of without consent going or entering upon the property of a church or school in the nighttime for a purpose other than attending a meeting or service. All offenses/charges occurred in Northumberland County.

Donovan Ramon Gregory, 24, of White Stone was charged March 17 with a probation violation on a felony offense; and a probation violation on a misdemeanor offense.

Misdemeanors

A Kilmarnock man, 31, was charged March 16 with reckless handling of a firearm; and brandishing a firearm in such a manner so as to reasonably induce fear in the mind of another of being shot or injured.

A Lancaster man, 63, was charged March 17 with intentionally destroying, defacing or damaging property valued at less than $1,000.

A Lancaster man, 31, was charged March 18 with operating a motor vehicle while having a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% or more by weight by volume; and reckless driving by driving a motor vehicle on the highway at a speed of 20 miles per hour or more in excess of the applicable maximum speed limit.

Activity report

March 13: Staff responded to the 500 block of Chesapeake Drive for a burglary, to the 100 block of Brook Lane for a domestic assault, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a disabled truck causing a traffic hazard, and to the 500 block of East Church Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with suspicious activity.

March 14: Staff responded to the 400 block of Irvington Road to assist KPD with a burglary in progress, to the 100 block of Harris Road to assist KPD with a verbal dispute, to the 10000 block of River Road for suspicious activity, to the 600 block of Johns Neck Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 1900 block of White Chapel Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash versus a commercial building, to the 600 block of Johns Neck Road for the report of threats made to harm another involving alcohol, and to the 100 block of Old Town Lane for vandalism of a building.

March 15: Staff responded to the 1300 block of Lumberlost Road for a prowler, to Courthouse and White Chapel roads for damage to a vehicle from a pedestrian who attempted to enter the vehicle, to the Norris Bridge for damage of two vehicles from the unsecured load of another vehicle, to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for a missing/stolen purse, to the Road to Nowhere for an abandoned vehicle, to the 100 block of Doggett Lane for suspicious activity, to the 400 block of East Church Street for a single-vehicle traffic crash versus a building, and to the 100 block of Turner Lane for a disorderly person.

March 16: Staff responded to a walk-in report of a reckless driver on Mary Ball Road in Lancaster; to the 200 block of Old Fairgrounds Way to assist KPD with threats made to harm another, to the 10400 block of Jessie duPont Memorial Highway for suspicious activity, to Irvington Road and James B. Jones Memorial Highway for a person brandishing a firearm, to the 100 block of Chesapeake Drive for larceny and vandalism; to the 200 block of Old Fairgrounds Way to assist KPD with the report of shoplifting; to the 100 block of Cherry Hill Road for the brandishing and reckless use of a firearm; to the 3100 block of Weems Road for debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, and to the 2300 block of River Road for the report of shooting in the late evening hours.

March 17: Staff responded to the 100 block of Hickory Road for threats to harm another and vandalism, to the 100 block of Doggett Lane for possible vandalism, to Lara Road to assist Virginia State Police with a vehicle that didn’t stop for emergency lights and siren; to the 100 block of Irvington Road for a domestic disturbance involving alcohol, to the 100 block of Mercers Way for a noise violation from loud music, and to Chinns Mill on Mary Ball Road for two vehicles driving recklessly.

March 18: Staff responded to the 600 block of Chesapeake Road for a fight in progress, and to North Main Street and Hawthorne Avenue for a male brandishing a firearm.

March 19: Staff responded to the 5000 block of Irvington Road for a suspicious vehicle, to the 1900 block of River Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 6000 block of Mary Ball Road for larceny of goods, and to the 400 block of Buzzards Neck Road to assist emergency medical services with a medical emergency.

Staff also conducted 39 traffic stops, issued 22 summonses, assisted six motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, handled eight calls for traffic control, investigated six building alarms, received 17 E911 hang up calls, and fielded three calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to Jarvis Point Road for the smell of propane, North Main Street for a vehicle accident, Black Stump Road for a fire/smoke alarm and with Upper Lancaster VFD to Levelgreen Road for a brush fire.

Upper Lancaster VFD also responded to White Chapel Road for a vehicle fire and Richtown Road for a structure fire.

White Stone VFD responded to Cedar Lane for an electrical fire.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against nine individuals.

Felonies

Terry Lamont Parker Jr., 28, of Reedville was charged March 9 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for failing to comply with a court order. He also was charged on a capias to show cause issued by the Westmoreland County Circuit Court for failing to comply with probation on an original felony charge of unlawful wounding.

Lakeena Onay Noel, 22, of Heathsville was charged March 10 on a capias issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for revoking her bond on charges of obtaining credit cards and credit card fraud. She also was charged by the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office. She also was charged by the Norfolk Police Department with obtaining money by false pretenses valued at more than $1,000.

Allen Lawrence Glaze, 36, of Dumfries was charged March 10 on a capias to show cause issued by the Stafford County Circuit Court for violating the terms of his bond by testing positive for cocaine.

Douglas Nelson Goodman, 45, of Heathsville was charged March 11 with strangulation and assault and battery on a family member.

Deontra Ta-Von Lampkin, 29, of Heathsville was charged March 14 with three counts of breaking and entering into local churches, and one count of petit larceny. He also was issued two summonses for criminal trespassing. These were Northumberland County charges served by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

Douglas Nelson Goodman, 45, of Heathsville was charged March 14 with eight felonies for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. These were Northumberland County warrants served by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Misdemeanors

A Manassas man, 35, was charged March 13 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Shenandoah General District Court for failing to appear in their court on an original charge of deliberate/negligent burning. He was served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

A Heathsville man, 23, was charged March 14 with failure to appear in Mathews County General District Court.

A Portsmouth man, 28, was charged March 15 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for failing to pay his child support. He was served by the Virginia Beach Police Department.
