Shot put state champion propels St. Margaret’s to top 10 track finish

Led by shot-putter Mide Enajekpo, St. Margaret’s School (SMS) in Tappahannock placed seventh among 22 teams at the recent 2020 Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) Indoor Track Championships. SMS’ seventh place finish was the highest by a VISAA Division Two School.

In her first year of competing, Enajekpo, a sophomore, won the VISAA State Championship with her shot put of 35’5.5”. She also earned first team VISAA All-State honors. At the League of Independent Schools (LIS) meet, her throw of 37’09” set the LIS record.
