Lancaster High senior Blake Smith advanced to the finals of the 100-yard backstroke, where he placed 13th in the state last Thursday at the Class 1/2 swim meet in Richmond.
Smith finished third in the Region 1A/2A meet two weeks ago to advance to the state meet. Both were held at SwimRVA Pool. The top five finishers in each region event advanced to the state meet.
