“Dress me up in me oilskins and jumper –
No more on the docks I’ll be seen
Just tell me old shipmates, I’m taking a trip, mates
And I’ll see you some day in Fiddlers’ Green….”
This supremely singable chorus has been resounding in world-wide clubs and concert halls for over 50 years, earning its author John Conolly a hearty welcome at major folk and maritime events from Brittany to Bermuda, from Washington to Warsaw and from Berlin to Baltimore. Now he’s on his way to Reedville.
Conolly, the “Man of Fiddlers’ Green,” his longtime stage partner Rob van Sante and special guest Janie Meneely will present a concert at 7 p.m. June 15 at Reedville Fishermen’s Museum, 504 Main Street, Reedville. Tickets are $10.
Conolly honed his songwriting craft on the docks….
