Artist reception
A reception of exhibiting artist Walker Antonio will be held from 4:30-5:30 p.m. today, May 15, at the Lancaster Community Library (LCL), 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock.
His newest series of paintings, “The Drama,” will continue through May 31 at LCL.
History talk
Lindsay Chervinsky and Clay Jenkinson will present “Religious Liberty and the First Amendment” today, May 15, at Historic Christ Church & Museum, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems. The event will begin at 4 p.m. with a cocktail reception. The discussion will begin at 5 p.m. followed by a light supper in the courtyard.

Historic drama
The Westmoreland Players will present “Alabama Story” at The Westmoreland Players Theatre, 16217 Richmond Road, Callao. The play will open Friday, May 16, with a gala at 6:30 p.m., the curtain will open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for opening night are $40 for adults and $27 for students.

Benefit concert
An Armed Forces Day & Montross Military Appreciation Day Concert to benefit Wounded Warriors Project Rally Point will be held from noon-9 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Northern Neck Brewery, 15804 Kings Highway, Montross.
Music will be provided by One Day Remains, Faron Hamblin, Chauncey Fortune and Cougar Flash. There will be beer, food and vendors. Hosts also will include Magnum RV and The Greater Montross Partnership for Revitalization.
Preakness Party
The Rappahannock Community College (RCC) Educational Foundation will hold the 21st annual Preakness Party from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Millmont in Wake. The event will feature hors d’oeuvres, regional wines, cocktails, beer, non-alcoholic options, auctions, contests and viewing of the Preakness Stakes.

Diamonds & Denim
The Healthy Harvest Food Bank, 55 Commerce Drive, Warsaw, will host the annual Diamonds & Denim on Saturday, May 17. The gala will open with a cocktail hour from 4-5 p.m., followed by dinner and dessert from 5-6 p.m., program and auction from 5:45-6:30 p.m. and dancing to The Haus Band from 6:30 into the night.

Preservation tour
Stratford Hall director of preservation Phil Mark will lead a behind-the-scenes preservation tour of the 18th-century Great House at 483 Great House Road, Stratford. The tour will begin at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 17, and focus on the main floor of the house and recent projects.

RCA show
The Rappahannock Concert Association will present the Rat Pack Impersonator Group Tribute Show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Northumberland County School Performing Arts Theater, 201 Academic Lane, Heathsville.

Naval battles
on local waters
A discussion of naval battles and British raiding parties on the Rappahannock River during the War of 1812 will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at Millmont, 987 Mill Wharf Road, Wake. The speaker will be Stuart L. Butler.

Potluck dinner
Bluff Point Community League, 2595 Bluff Point Road, Kilmarnock, will hold a potluck dinner on Monday, May 19. Social time will begin at 6 p.m., dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome. Bring a dish to share.
Dr. Richard Siciliano, Master Oyster Gardener with the Tidewater Oyster Gardeners Association, is the after-dinner speaker. He will present a free seminar on the basics of growing oysters, including every step necessary to be a Virginia oyster gardener.
Fish fry
Morattico Waterfront Museum, 6584 Morattico Road, Morattico, will hold a fish fry from 4-6 p.m. May 24. The menu will include baked beans, cole slaw, hush puppies and dessert.

“Frenemies”
“Founding Frenemies: Hamilton and the Virginians,” a traveling exhibit from the Virginia Museum of History and Culture, will be on exhibit through May 26 at the Mathews Museum, 200 Main Street Mathews.
Co-sponsored by the Mathews Museum and the Mathews County Historical Society, the exhibit complements Lin-Manuel Miranda’s award-winning “Hamilton,” which tells the story of Alexander Hamilton’s relationships with George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.
Afternoon tea
The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society (LVHS) will host a special “Afternoon at Verville” at 3 p.m. June 7 at the home of Ammon G. Dunton, Jr. near Merry Point.

Juneteenth
The Northern Neck Hidden History Trail will hold a Juneteenth Celebration from noon-5 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Ma Margaret’s House B&B, 249 Greenfield Road, Reedville.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Cassandra Newby-Alexander. Country singer Roberta Lea will bring soulful sounds with a country twist. There also will be line dancing, food, games and vendors.
Rotary meetings
The Northern Neck Rotary Club meets at 7:30 a.m. on second and fourth Wednesdays at River Counties Community Foundation, 834 Rappahannock Drive, White Stone.
