An Historic Church Tour sponsored by Morattico Baptist Church (MBC) and her daughter churches will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, October 7.
Tickets are $10 per person and may be purchased at Davenport & Co, Kilmarnock Lettering, Lillian Lumber, Chesapeake Bank Lively and Lancaster Virginia Historical Society, or at any participating church on the day of the event.
Organized in 1778, MBC is deemed the mother Baptist church of the area. All of the other churches included in the self-guided tour have spawned from Morattico Baptist.
According to Kathy Pittman with MBC, both white and black churches are highlighted throughout the tour.
Churches include MBC, Beulah, Claybrook, Coan, Corrottoman, Fairfields, Fairport, First, Irvington, Kilmarnock, Lebanon, Mt. Olive, Providence and White Stone.
