Town plans to prepare for impact of bridge project and future traffic

WHITE STONE—With Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s recent ceremonial bill signing expediting construction of a new bridge across the Rappahannock River to 2028, the White Stone Town Council decided it needs to take a proactive approach to the possible effect the big project will have on the town’s economy.

Councilman Charles Brocklebank brought up the issue as a new business item at the Thursday, September 4, council meeting.

Gov. Youngkin came to the Northern Neck on August 28 for the ceremony.

Since the signing, he’s talked to a few business owners and residents and “I don’t think it’s premature, we need to start thinking about the positive and negative impacts on the town,” said Brocklebank.
