TRIAD to host fraud and scam discussions

KILMARNOCK—TRIAD of Lancaster and Northumberland counties will conduct a discussion on fraud and scams at 10 a.m. February 16 at Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock.

Dave Farley, president of TRIAD of Lancaster and Northumberland Counties, said, “Anyone who is concerned about these types of predatory activities and anyone who is concerned that someone they know or care for may be victimized should attend these discussions, which are free and open to the public.”

“We will discuss current fraud and scams in our area, how to detect and avoid being a target of these unwanted predatory acts and what to do if you become a victim,” said Farley.

Speakers will include law enforcement officials from the Lancaster and Northumberland County Sheriff’s Offices, and banking professionals with expertise in risk and fraud management, said Farley. A speaker from the Virginia Attorney General’s Office will review the current top 10 frauds and scams.

Several related vendors will provide free items and helpful literature. Refreshments will be served.

“This discussion will be the most informative event in the area on this critical subject,” said Farley.

Reservations are encouraged; contact Farley at [email protected], or 436-3648.
