Two separate bridge projects are underway along Route 3 corridor in Lancaster County

BROOKVALE—Effective Wednesday, April 9, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reduced Mary Ball Road between Kilmarnock and Brookvale to one lane in each direction at the bridge over Camps Prong for a bridge maintenance project.

The single-lane closures both eastbound and westbound will remain in place 24 hours a day until repairs are complete in late November 2025, reported VDOT senior communications specialist Alexis Breeden.

This is one of multiple bridges undergoing repair as part of the $3.1 million bridge maintenance project in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula areas to address structure scour, the erosion of soil around a bridge’s foundation.

Meanwhile, delays can be expected as overnight lane closures continue on the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge crossing….
