Painting tulips

RAL Art Center, 19 North Main Street, Kilmarnock, will hold an adult Paint Night from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 22. Participants will complete an 11-inch by 14-inch acrylic painting of spring tulips.

Instructor and artist Juli Schuszler will lead the class. Bring a favorite beverage, snacks and mask. To register, call 436-9309. 

Virtual history

The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society’s “Zooming In On Local History: Virtual Speaker Series II” will continue at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 22, with “The Courthouse Village and Court Day in Colonial Virginia,” by Dr. Carl Lounsbury.

Patio music

Faron Hamlin will be featured from 6-9 p.m. Friday, April 23, at Music on the Patio, General’s Ridge Vineyard, 1618 Weldons Road, Hague.

WOMP Weekend

General’s Ridge Vineyard, 1618 Weldons Road, Hague, will host Wine, Oysters, Music, Party (WOMP) Weekend April 24-April 25. Musical guests will include Ronnie Richards from 2-5 p.m. Saturday and Jamie & Tyler from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Shuck’n cider

Ditchley Cider Works and Farm, 1571 Ditchley Road, Kilmarnock, will host Shuck’n, Pluck’n, Pick’n & Cider from noon-5 p.m. April 24 and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. April 25, as part of the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail Spring Oyster Event.

The Legal Tender Trio and Band will play from 1-4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Sunday. Fried oysters, hush puppies and smoked pork ribs will be on the menu. A table or barrel may be reserved for the day for $40. The reservation fee will be applied to order(s). Reservations may be made at ditchleyciderworks.com. If tables are sold out, or not needed, bring a chair.

Shelluva Good Time

Good Luck Cellars, 1025 Goodluck Road, Kilmarnock, will host Shelluva Good Time April 24-25 with oysters and wine. Musical guests include CityFarm Band from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday. The Tidewater Oyster Gardners Association will participate.

Sippin’ Saturday

Triple V Farms, Vines, Vodka or Vinegar, 3138 Jessie duPont Memorial Highway, Tipers, will host Sippin’ Saturday from noon-6 p.m. April 24 with Cameron Ashton from 1-4 p.m.

RFM to open

The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum, 504 Main Street, Reedville, will hold an open house to launch the 2021 visitor season from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. May 1.

Opening day will be highlighted by tours, a sale in the Museum Shop, the running of the model trains from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and a campus filled with historic vessels, a monument to fallen watermen and several memorial gardens in bloom. 

Wine Down

Good Luck Cellars, 1025 Goodluck Road, Kilmarnock, hosts Friday Night Wine Downs from 5-8 p.m., with music by Bob Wilson from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Great Art Heist

The 14th Great Art Heist will be held June 26 at the RAL Art Center, 19 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. Patrons can buy “early bird” Heist tickets through May 6, and automatically be entered into an Early Bird Raffle.

The winning ticket will be drawn at The Heist. Purchase tickets at the gallery, www.ralartcenter.com, or 436-9309.

Free workshop

Visiting Angels will host a free virtual workshop “Effective Communication Strategies for Dementia” from 6-7 p.m. May 11. To register for the workshop, call 567-0281.

The workshop is for partners or families of loved ones facing dementia. Learn to decode verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia. Identify strategies to help connect through communication in each stage of the disease.
