Holiday play
“Tilt the Unlit Candle” continues at the Westmoreland Players Theatre, 16217 Richmond Road, Callao. Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. November 24, 25, and December 1; and 3 p.m. November 26, and December 2 and 3.
Tickets are by season subscription, or $30 for adults and $17 for students. Purchase tickets at www.westmorelandplayers.org or call 529-9345. The performance contains mature themes.
Chorale concerts
The Chesapeake Chorale present Christmas concerts at 8 p.m. December 1 at Northumberland High School, 201 Academic Lane, Heathsville; 8 p.m. December 2 at Lancaster Elementary School, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock; and 3 p.m. December 3 at St. Clare Walker Middle School, 6814 General Puller Highway, Locust Hill.
Tickets are $10, and can be purchased at Chesapeake Bank, Pearl Boutique and The Kilmarnock Museum in Kilmarnock; Country Cottage in White Stone, or from any of the chorale singers.
Game night
The Northumberland County Community Center Organization (NCCCO) will sponsor First Friday Board and Card Game Night from 6-10 p.m. on first Fridays at the NCCCO Community Center, 679 Browns Store Road, Heathsville.
The fee is $5 per person. Fried chicken wings, french fries, fried fish, water and sodas will be available for purchase. There will be music, BYOB for adults.
Santa’s Village
Santa’s Village, a Christmas-themed mini-North Pole will take place December 1 and 2 at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. Children will travel to seven different stations, learn how toys are made and tested, enjoy activities and visit with Santa.
Tickets are $12 per child younger than age 10, including infants, and $18 for others. Tickets can only be purchased at kilmarnockva.ticketleap.com.
Caregiver support
A caregiver support session will be held from 2-3 p.m. December 15 at Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock. Mary Arthur will present Planning for the Future.

Golden Village
Golden Village Christmas will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. December 2 at Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern, 73 Monument Place, Heathsville. There will be gift vendors, holiday greenery, caroling, free hot mulled cider, a bake sale, visits with Santa (11 a.m.-1 p.m.) and food concessions.
For $2 per gift, elementary school-aged children may buy gifts for their family. Tavern elves will help them select appropriate gifts and then wrap the gifts. Children’s shopping is by appointment only, 580-3377, or www.RHHTFoundationinc.org.
Chicken dinners
Chicken dinners will be available from 5-6:30 p.m. on first Mondays at American Legion Post #117, 39 School Street, Reedville.
Meals include fried chicken, mashed potatoes, choice of vegetables, salad, roll, dessert and drink. Dinners are $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 12 and younger, at the door.
Community Christmas
Ma Margaret’s House Bed & Breakfast, 240 Greenfield Road, Reedville, will host its third annual Community Christmas Event featuring Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. Enjoy hot cocoa, games, hayrides, music and family fun. Most of all, don’t miss the lighting of the Christmas tree. The event is from 4-6:30 p.m. December 9.
Tree lighting
The Town of Kilmarnock will host “Countdown to Christmas” and a ceremonial tree lighting at 5 p.m. Saturday, November 25, at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. The event will feature Christmas music, hot cocoa and cookies sponsored by Lancaster/Northumberland Toys for Tots.
Santa will start the countdown to the tree lighting. Families are urged to bring an unwrapped toy to help a child in the community celebrate this wonderful time of year.
Winter Wonderland
The White Stone Winter Wonderland will begin at 6 p.m. December 1, with the town tree lighting at the Village Green, Rappahannock Drive, White Stone. Santa will arrive by firetruck at 6:30 p.m.
The White Stone Volunteer Fire Department will provide hot dogs, water and soda. The White Stone Women’s Club will host children’s craft tables. IsaBell K. Horsley Real Estate will provide hot chocolate, The Virginia Asset Group will provide hot cider, and Out of the Oven Bakery will provide Christmas cookies. The Lancaster Players will present a puppet show and Santa will be here to visit with the children.
