MONTROSS—Westmoreland County’s Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) spring collection will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at the A. T. Johnson Building parking lot, 18849 Kings Highway, Montross.
Residents and property owners will not be charged a weight fee for household hazardous waste items, reported Northern Neck Soil and Water Conservation District marketing/outreach specialist Kelly Brann.
Sponsored by C&F Bank, Shred-it will be available for onsite document shredding and the Sheriff’s office will be present to collect prescription drugs, said Brann.
Westmoreland County residents and property owners are asked to bring old household chemicals such as oil-based paint, cleaners, solvents, old or used petroleum products—including mower and boat gas, pool chemicals, pesticides and spent florescent and CFL bulbs, she said. Residents should not bring electronics, ammunition, radioactive materials or tires.
Anyone with questions about the April 26 HHW collection should call Brann, 313-9102, x105.
