White Stone will reapply for downtown revitalization grant

WHITE STONE—With the public sewer project progressing, the White Stone Town Council has directed town manager Patrick Frere to start the reapplication process for a downtown revitalization block grant.

White Stone wasn’t selected for a Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) grant for a commercial area redo two years ago. One major factor, according to Frere, was the DHCD wanted “some of the sewer infrastructure done.”

Now that the town has entered into a $4.9 million contract with Franklin Mechanical Contractors Inc. of Kilmarnock to begin construction of the sewage collection and treatment system, Frere believes White Stone has a better chance…
