WEEMS—William Graham “Bill” Brandt Jr., 94, of Weems departed this life peacefully at home due to complications from Parkinson’s on January 13, 2022.

Bill was born in Richmond on July 26, 1927, to William Graham Brandt and Corinne Corwardin Brandt, where he lived most of his life before retiring to the Northern Neck.

Bill was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Doris H. Brandt; and his son, Cliff W. Brandt.

He is survived by his wife, Julia Putney-Brandt; his daughters, Pauline Kerwath (Chuck), Vivian Pollok (Nick), Sara PB Dubois (Jeff); six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brother, Lewis W. Brandt (Gail); and his sister-in-law, Joan E. Putney (John Bennett).

As a graduate of John Marshall High School, Bill went on to serve in the U.S. Navy and afterwards to earn his degree from VPI (VA Tech). He retired from Brandt Engineering but continued to work well into his eighties as a professional electrical and mechanical engineer.

At various times in his life, he enjoyed flying his own airplanes, playing golf, sailing, raising oysters, volunteering, traveling and dancing.

Bill was a member of Yankee Point Yacht Club (past commodore) in Lancaster, the Kilmarnock White Stone Rotary, the Northern Neck Family YMCA, and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Kilmarnock.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Northern Neck Family YMCA, 39 William B. Graham Court, Kilmarnock, VA 22482, for the Bill Brandt Summer Camp scholarship.

Due to COVID-19, a celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date.
