IRVINGTON—Bonny Kay Siekman, 79, passed away on June 20, 2026, at her home in Irvington, following a short battle with cancer.
Bonny was born on November 13, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Eugene and Ruby Jean Puckett. She graduated from Southport High School in 1965 and Ball State University in 1969. While at Ball State, she met Kenneth Siekman, and they were married on August 8, 1969, in Southport, Indiana. They then moved to Lafayette, Indiana, and began their teaching careers. Bonny taught home economics at Tecumseh Junior High School until their daughter, Jennifer, was born in 1972. In the fall of 1975, Bonny and Ken welcomed their son, Mark, into the family.
Bonny spent a number of years working at The Rug Shop in Lafayette as an interior designer. When the longtime owners retired, Bonny opened The Benchmart, her own fine gifts and interiors store, which she lovingly ran from 1993 to 2003.
In 2003, Bonny and Ken moved from Indiana to Virginia to be near their children and grandchildren. They settled near Jennifer and Dave in Springfield and later moved to Haymarket. Bonny worked part-time for Ethan Allen and spent her days off with her young grandchildren. She was known and loved by many at the neighborhood pool as “Grandma Bonny.”
Bonny enjoyed baking, sewing and quilting. She was famous for her decorating and hosting for all holidays, but especially at Christmas. Her iced sugar cookies, a labor of love, will be greatly missed! But above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She and Ken took several trips to England and Ireland in their retirement, admiring the countryside and the views and all the sheep!
Bonny was always active in the Lutheran Church wherever she and Ken lived, including Price of Peace Lutheran Church in Lafayette, Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manassas and Living Water Lutheran Church near Irvington.
Bonny is survived by her husband, Ken; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Fletcher (Dave) of Kilmarnock; and son, Mark Douglas Siekman (Kelly) of Severna Park, Maryland; her grandchildren, Riley, William and Larkin Fletcher and Jackson and Evelyn Siekman; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and Denny Wainscott of Frankfort, Indiana.
She was predeceased by her parents, Eugene and Ruby Jean; and her siblings, Kathy Sue Puckett and Patrick E. Puckett.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 26, at Campbell Memorial Chapel in Weems.
