Military service support meeting

The American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces will conduct a Joining Community Forces regional support meeting for Kilmarnock at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 13, via Zoom. Virtual history

The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society’s “Zooming In On Local History: Virtual Speaker Series II” will continue at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 13, with “Black Voices—Men at Work in the Lower Northern Neck in the mid-1900s,” by LVHS researchers featuring audio clips from the Closing the Gap African American Oral History Collection.

Patio music

Trent Jones will be featured from 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 14, at Music on the Patio, General’s Ridge Vineyard, 1618 Weldons Road, Hague.

Meet the Artist

The May art exhibit at Northumberland Public Library features felting and wearable art by Barbara Brecher. A Meet the Artist event will be held from 3-5:30 p.m. Friday, May 14, at the library, 7204 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville.

Sippin’ Saturday

Triple V Farms, Vines, Vodka or Vinegar, 3138 Jessie duPont Memorial Highway, Tipers, will host Sippin’ Saturday from noon-6 p.m. May 15 with Kurt Crandall from 1-4 p.m.

Barbecue

The American Legion Adams Post 86 and the Ladies Auxiliary will host a carry-out barbecue dinner from 4-7 p.m. May 22 at the Post Home, 882 Waverly Avenue, Kilmarnock.

The dinner will include pulled pork barbecue, rolls, coleslaw, baked beans, corn, iced tea or coffee and dessert. Meals are $15. Sodas are $1 each. Barbecue by the pound is $10.

Wine Down

Good Luck Cellars, 1025 Goodluck Road, Kilmarnock, hosts Friday Night Wine Downs from 5-8 p.m., with music by Bob Wilson from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Music Tides

Paige Melton performs at 6 p.m. Wednesdays at the Fish Hawk Oyster Bar, Tides Inn, 480 King Carter Drive, Irvington.

Mercy Creek is featured from 5:30-8:30 p.m.Sundays on the Waterfront Terrace, Tides Inn, 480 King Carter Drive, Irvington.

Spay/neuter program deadlines approaching

The Animal Welfare League of the Northern Neck (AWL) will offer a 50% spay/neuter rebate program through May 31. Participants should make an appointment with a vet of their choice and send a paid receipt to AWL, P. O. Box 975, White Stone, VA 22578 postmarked by June 15.

The rebate applies only to surgery charge, not to exceed $50 per dog or cat. The program applies to cats and dogs owned by residents of Lancaster, Westmoreland, Northumberland and Richmond counties.    

Bluegrass concert tickets available

The Seldom Scene will present “Live At The Cellar Door” September 25 at Mount Airy Farm, 361 Millpond Road, Warsaw. The outdoor concert, rescheduled from 2020, will open at 4 p.m. with an act to be determined followed by two sets of the Seldom Scene starting at 5 p.m. All previously purchased tickets will be honored at this new date. 

General admission tickets are $35 per person. A limited number of VIP tickets will be sold for $75 per person. Tickets are available at www.mountairy.farm, or 313-0815.
