The Lancaster High School varsity soccer team on March 15 opened its 2023 season with a 9-1 win over Mathews.
The Red Devils got a hat trick from freshman Porter Pittman and a haul from senior Stewart Hollingsworth.
Hollingsworth and Pittman scored in the opening minutes for a quick 2-0 LHS lead before the Blue Devils scored their only goal at the 12-minute mark.
Another goal each by Hollingsworth and Pittman with a score in between from Branndonn Wade lifted Lancaster, 5-1, at the half.
