Historical society names library in honor of Ammon G. Dunton Jr.

LANCASTER—The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society (LVHS) recently announced that its new research center, currently under development, will be named the Dunton Library for Genealogy and History in honor of Ammon G. Dunton Jr. and his many contributions to the organization and local history.

According to executive director Karen Hart, the expanded and updated facility will be double the size of the current building and will provide modern and inviting space for more users, improved technology and the ongoing growth of the library collections.

LVHS, which was previously known as the Mary Ball Washington Museum and Library, is dedicated to connecting people to the past and to preserving, understanding, and sharing the histories and family stories of Lancaster County and the surrounding area.
