Lancaster took six to wrestle in the Virginia High School League Class 1 championships last weekend in Salem and three came home with some bling.
“This was a real nice end to the season,” said coach Craig Oren. “It’s been riddled with injuries and illness and we had some guys quit, so to end on a positive note after a rough season is encouraging.”
The Red Devils qualified five wrestlers who finished in the top three at the Region 1A tournament and also took six with fourth-place alternate James Hicks taking the place of a Westmoreland wrestler in the 175-pound bracket. The WHS wrestler was injured in the regional tournament and couldn’t compete.
