WHITE STONE—It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of John William “J.W.” Childs, 90, on August 4, 2020. He was a resident of White Stone, and formerly of Oakton.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Leslie Scott Childs; his beloved children, Hampton Childs, Tinsley James, Todd Childs and Gregory Childs; his eight grandchildren and extended family.
Throughout his life, J.W. enjoyed motor sports, boating and spending time with his family. He owned and operated several Exxon stations in Northern Virginia for 30 years and worked for County Transmission in Vienna for 28 years. He served in the Korean War, 24th infantry division, from 1950-53.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice in his honor.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for all thoughts and prayers during this time.
