LANCASTER—Lancaster County recently was recognized for its strategic plan, Lancaster 2035, which aims to address the community’s needs and priorities.
The Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA) awarded Lancaster County the Holzheimer Economic Development Award, according to a press release issued by assistant county administrator and economic development director John Bateman. This honor recognizes and promotes outstanding planning efforts throughout the Commonwealth.
According to a statement attributed to the APA, “The American Planning Association, Virginia Chapter, is committed to raising awareness about the many benefits that planning offers as a foundation for effectively addressing the physical, economic and social changes that take place in Virginia and to providing effective leadership in planning advocacy reflective of a diverse geography and population. The awards committee would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication your planning effort has shown in achieving the chapter’s mission of making great communities happen in Virginia.”
The Lancaster 2035 plan was developed in 2023 by the Citizens Business Relations Advisory Committee (CBRAC).
