Lancaster supervisors agree to $20.4 million school budget with 7% raise for all employees

LANCASTER—The Lancaster board of supervisors was in agreement with the school board in moving forward with a proposed $20,436,463 budget, an increase of 12.8% over the current budget, following a Thursday, February 29, joint work session.

Much of the $2,323,758 increase will be funded locally. After holding steady for two years, local funds are projected to increase $2,258,944 (19%) to a total of $14,116,068.

Superintendent Jessica Davis said the funds will cover an 11% increase in health insurance premiums plus provide a 7% raise for all staff. Teachers would receive a 5.5% raise plus a 1.5% step, making the starting teacher salary $50,832, necessary for recruiting and retention, she said.
