LHS indoor track and field teams continue to shave times, stretch marks

The Lancaster High School indoor track and field team had a busy weekend January 12-13, producing a few meet champions, breaking a school record, turning in some season best performances and pre-qualifying several for the Class 1/2 meet in February.

On January 12, Matthew Kane and Josh Woolard raced in the Virginia Beach Classic with Kane finishing the 1600 meter race in 4:34.87 and Woolard turning in a season best time, shaving four seconds off his 1600 time for 4:44.18. According to assistant coach Jim Timm, Woolard improved by 16 seconds in his last two 1600 races.  

On January 13, the Red Devils girls and boys teams raced in Hampton at the Boo Williams Indoor Invitational. Reece Rhodes won the shot put with a 59’6” put. Kane dropped his time in the 1000 meter to a new school record time of 1:36.26. Kane won….
