Mark Downing and his fiancé Kate Jones won a lottery of sorts when their Lottsburg home became one of the first to be connected to Northumberland’s new fiber optic network.

“We’re very pleased. We both work from home, and it’s nice to watch movies without buffering,” Downing said.

“This is an important day in Northumberland County,” said All Points Broadband (APB) chief executive officer Jimmy Carr. “One hundred years ago it was about providing power” to rural America. “Today, broadband is this century’s important utility.”
