Players to present musical comedy

Spell I-R-R-E-S-I-S-T-I-B-L-E.

Let the spelling—and the singing—begin. The competition is intense. The words are outrageous. The songs are hilarious as the Lancaster Players present “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” by William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin.

Shows will be staged at 8 p.m. November 3, 4, 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18, as well as 3 p.m. November 5 and 12, at The Lancaster Playhouse, 361 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone. November 5, 10, 12, 17 and 18 performances are sold out.

The theater and bar will open an hour prior to performances. Tickets are $20. To purchase tickets, visit lancasterplayers.org, or call 435-3776.

“You will be charmed by this charming character study of six precocious preteens angling for passage to the Scripps National Spelling Bee, hoping to never hear the crushing ‘ding’ of the bell that signals a mistake,” said director Robin Blake.
