School board candidates unopposed for special election

HEATHSVILLE—Candidates for two seats on the Northumberland school board appear to be unopposed in the special election on November 3.

Carl Perez, who currently represents District 3 on the school board, is seeking the District 2 seat on the board.

According to county registrar Kathy Davenport, candidates for office must live in, and be registered to vote in, the districts they hope to represent. Perez did not respond in time for publication to questions about whether he has moved, or plans to move, to District 2.

Perez is a pastor and church executive at Galilee United Methodist Church in Edwardsville and owner of Breaking Forth Insurance. He filled the District 3 seat following the death of former member Gerald Howard.

Denise Mazyck also will face no challengers in her quest for the District 3 seat on the school board. Mazyck is a former teacher…
