Sheriff’s Report 10-01-20

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against two individuals.

A Lancaster man, 25, was charged September 23 with contempt of court, failure to appear.

A Richmond man, 39, was charged September 24 with driving while intoxicated, refusal to take a blood or breath test, drinking while driving/open container, and failure to drive on the right side of the road.

Activity report

Sept. 21: Staff responded to a larceny of campaign signs from the 300 block of James Lane, and to Buzzard Neck for dirt bikes on the highway.

Sept. 22: Staff responded to North Main Street for a suspicious vehicle, and to the 100 block of Club View Drive to check the welfare of a resident after being alerted by a friend.

Sept. 23: Staff responded to obtaining money by false pretenses from the 700 block of Sage Hill Road, to the 8200 block of Mary Ball Road for the unauthorized use of vehicle license plates, to the 8300 block of Mary Ball Road for a disorderly person, to Windmill Point Road for a suspicious vehicle, to Regina Road for a possible intoxicated driver, and to River Road and Bertrand Place for trespassers.

Sept. 24: Staff responded to the 800 block of Rappahannock Drive for a commercial burglary and the theft of U.S. currency, to the 800 block of Pinckardsville Road to check the welfare of a resident after being alerted by a relative, to the 1100 block of Chestnut Grove Road to assist with retrieval of personal items, to the 100 block of Shoreline Drive for a stolen iPad, to the 100 block of Youcomico Drive for trespassers, to the 1300 block of Bewdley Road to assist emergency medical services with an overdose of medicine.

Sept. 25: Staff responded to the 600 block of Chases Road for an abandoned vehicle, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the roadway, and to the 2400 block of Ocran Road for destruction of farm crops and an abandoned vehicle.

Sept. 26: Staff responded to the 400 block of East Church Street for a domestic assault with a weapon and alcohol involved, to Mary Ball Road for a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes, and to Christ Church and Gaskins Roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

Sept. 27: Staff responded to the 300 block of Mila Road to assist the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office with a fight in progress at a large gathering, to River Road and Bertrand Place for trespassers, to the 18700 block of Mary Ball Road for a trespasser, and to the 400 block of Wilson Lane for vandalism of a vehicle.

Staff also conducted 15 traffic stops, issued 11 summonses, assisted four motorists, recorded four deer strike accidents, handled a call for traffic control, investigated five building alarms, logged two inmate transports, and received 24 E911 hang-up calls.

Fire calls

Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Boys Camp Road, a lift assistance request on School Street, a mutual aid fire alarm request on Mill Creek Farm Road, a traffic crash at Christ Church and Gaskins roads, with White Stone VFD to a fire/smoke alarm on Old Oak Trail and with Upper Lancaster VFD to a structure fire on Norwood Church Road.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a traffic crash on Buzzards Neck Road.
