Sheriffs’ Reports 03-14-24

Coffee with a cop The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will host “coffee with a cop” at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 21, at Front Porch Coffeehouse, 139 South Main Street, Kilmarnock. Members of the public are urged to meet and chat with law enforcement representatives.

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against four individuals.

Felony

Molly Jean Kane, 43, of Kilmarnock was charged March 8 with assault and battery of a law enforcement officer, misdemeanor disorderly conduct, and misdemeanor appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.

Misdemeanors

A Kilmarnock man, 40, was charged March 8 for failure to appear in the Lancaster County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

A White Stone woman, 41, was charged March 9 with driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated, and refusal to submit breath or blood for chemical test.

A Lancaster woman, 44, was charged March 11 with driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated, driving a motor vehicle while license is suspended or revoked, and reckless driving by driving a motor vehicle on a highway at a speed of 20 miles per hour or more in excess of the applicable maximum speed limit.

Activity report

March 4: Staff responded to the 600 block of Mosquito Point Road for an adult welfare check, to the 300 block of Chesapeake Drive for low hanging power lines, to the 500 block of Clark Point Road for a civil complaint, and to River and White Chapel roads for a disabled vehicle.

March 5: Staff responded to the 500 block of Weems Road for a traffic complaint, and to the 60 block of Washington Street for suspicious activity.

March 6: Staff responded to the 60 block of Dream Point Road for a suspicious vehicle, to the 9000 block of Mary Ball Road for a child welfare check, to the 1000 block of Oak Hill Road for a larceny, to the 700 block of Old Saint Johns Road for a suspicious vehicle, to Ocran and Scott roads for high water causing a traffic hazard, and to the 200 block of Weems Road for a verbal disagreement.

March 7: Staff responded to the 6000 block of Mary Ball Road for debris in the highway, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the highway, to the 5000 block of Mary Ball Road for debris in the highway, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for trespassing, and to the 200 block of Cherry Point Drive for suspicious activity.

March 8: Staff responded to the 600 block of Chesapeake Drive for disorderly conduct, to the 100 block of Mulberry Creek Road for a disabled vehicle, to Weems Road for a disabled vehicle, to Weems and Irvington roads for a domestic assault, to the 200 block of Newtown Road for a traffic complaint, to Irvington Road and Wilson Lane for a reckless driver, to the 100 block of Old Fair Grounds Way for a fight in progress, to the Norris Bridge for debris in the highway, and to Chases Road to assist Virginia State Police on a traffic stop.

March 9: Staff responded to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road for a wanted person, to the 500 block of Irvington Road for a downed tree blocking the highway, to the 300 block of White Chapel Road for an adult welfare check, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for the report of a scam, and to Chases and Mary Ball roads for a downed tree blocking the highway.

March 10: Staff responded to the 500 block of Pinckardsville Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 9000 block of River Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 100 block of Kathy Drive for threats, to Morattico Road for a downed tree blocking the highway, to Crawfords Corner and Pinckardsville roads for a downed tree blocking the highway, to River and Nuttsville roads for a downed tree blocking the highway, and to the 4000 block of Mary Ball Road for an adult welfare check.

March 11: Staff responded to the 4000 block of Mary Ball Road for an abandoned-unattended vehicle.

Staff also conducted 16 traffic stops, issued 14 summonses, assisted a motorist, handled a call for traffic control, investigated five building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged an inmate transport, received 13 E911 hang up calls, and fielded two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to a traffic crash at 567 Pinckardsville Road.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against six individuals.

Felonies

William Cornelius Crockett, 50, of Lancaster was charged March 4 with four felony counts of credit card larceny. He also was charged with misdemeanor credit card fraud and two counts of petit larceny. These were Northumberland County charges, served by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

Clifton Arthur Baldwin III, 54, of Heathsville was charged March 6 with strangulation causing wounds or injuries. He also was charged with two misdemeanor accounts of violating a protective order.

Milford S. Diggs, 47, of Burgess was charged March 7 with distribution of a Schedule I/II drug and possession of a Schedule I/II drug. He also was charged with selling/distributing marijuana.

Misdemeanors

A Reedville man, 32, was charged March 7 on a capias issued by the Richmond County Circuit Court for failing to abide by a court order.

A Heathsville man, 54, was charged March 8 on a capias/attachment of the body for violating his pre-trial conditions. This was a Northumberland County paper served by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

A Callao man, 36, was charged March 8 on a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for violating his pre-trial conditions by testing positive for drugs.
