Lost and found

The Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office, in response to loose domestic pigs in the Ditchley area of Northumberland County, is searching for the owners of the livestock.

If these are your pigs, contact the Northumberland County Animal Control officer, 580-5221, before 5 p.m. Friday, January 11.

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against seven individuals.

Felonies

Daniel Lee Gross Jr., 50, of White Stone was charged December 28 with 14 counts of knowingly and intentionally possessing or transporting a firearm after having been convicted of a felony.

James Allen Boyd III, 39, of Lancaster was charged December 31 with driving while intoxicated, third offense within five years; after receiving a signal from a law enforcement officer to stop, drive a motor vehicle in a willful and wanton disregard of such signal; drive while license is revoked; displaying license plates knowing it to be fictitious or altered; and expired registration.

Donovan Ramon Gregory, 19, of White Stone was charged January 1 with strangulation resulting in wounding or bodily injury.

Misdemeanors

A White Stone man, 73, was charged December 31 with probation violation on a misdemeanor offense.

A Lancaster man, 35, was charged January 1 with being a fugitive from justice on a misdemeanor offense.

A Newport News man, 21, was charged January 2 with assault.

A Weems woman, 65, was charged January 4 with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and failure to obey a signal light to stop.

Activity report

December 28: Staff responded to the 100 block of Pembroke Lane for vandals trespassing on a private dock, to South Main Street for a speeder with defective equipment, to the 300 block of Chesapeake Drive for a noise violation from music, to the 100 block of Chestnut Point Road for a missing elderly male with epilepsy, and to the 100 block of Hatton Avenue to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a domestic disturbance involving alcohol.

December 29: Staff responded to the 100 block of Hatton Avenue to assist KPD with a domestic disturbance involving alcohol, to the 100 block of Wesley Terrance for trespassing to hunt, to the 300 block of East Church Street for threats made toward another with a weapon involved, to the 100 block of York Road for suspicious activity, and to the 400 block of Madge Marsh Lane to assist the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) with shots fired at a residence.

December 30: Staff responded to the 8400 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to Mary Ball and Devils Bottom roads for two suspicious males on foot, to the 100 block of Fitzhugh Street for a domestic disturbance over civil issues, to the 100 block of Mercers Way for a possible burglary, and to Mary Ball Road in Lively for a reckless driver.

December 31: Staff responded to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris on the highway creating a traffic hazard, to the 100 block of Primrose Path for trespassers, and to the 2900 block of Lara Road for a domestic assault.

January 1: Staff responded to the 100 block of Woodbrook Drive for a tree down in the highway, and to Crawfords Corner Road for a stolen vehicle.

January 2: Staff responded to Little Bay and Old Point roads for hunters parked in the highway, to the 1000 block of Crab Point Road for larceny of building materials, to the Norris Bridge for a male straddling the bridge rail (it was later learned that it was a bridge inspection worker), and to the 4200 block of Irvington Road for a domestic assault involving a juvenile.

January 3: Staff responded to the 9000 block of Mary Ball Road for a domestic assault involving juveniles, to Mary Ball and Devils Bottom roads for reckless driving and the use of narcotics, to the 600 block of Little Bay Road for an abandoned vehicle, to the 300 block of Edmonds Lane for a possible burglary, and to the 100 block of Pine Drive for a suspicious vehicle.

January 4: Staff responded to Mary Ball and Devils Bottom roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to Good Luck Road for a reckless driver, to Devils Bottom Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to Mary Ball Road in Lively for a vehicle traveling in the dark without lights, to the 100 block of Brent Court for credit card fraud, to the 400 block of North Main Street to assist KPD with a fight in progress, and to the 400 block of Gilbert Street to assist KPD with a suicidal person.

January 5: Staff responded to Christ Church Road for a female jumping out in front of vehicles, to the 3100 block of Weems Road for a possible burglary, to the 100 block of Joyful Way for the reported damage of a vehicle, to Windmill Point and Mosquito Point roads for trespassers, to the 100 block of Blue Jay Lane for a possible burglary, and to Mary Ball Road in White Stone for a possible intoxicated driver.

January 6: Staff responded to the 100 block of Jasmine Road for malicious wounding of a 19-year-old male involving a firearm, and to the 400 block of Kinlock Avenue to assist KPD with a domestic assault.

Staff also conducted 17 traffic stops, issued six summonses, assisted 10 motorists, recorded seven deer strike accidents, handled five calls for traffic control, investigated seven building alarms, processed two mental health orders, logged three inmate transports, received eight E911 hang-up calls and fielded two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

The Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to traffic crashes at Mary Ball and Devils Bottom roads and Main Street and James B. Jones Memorial Highway, a structure fire on Carlson Road and with the White Stone VFD to a chimney fire on River Village Drive.

EMS calls

For December 30-January 5, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 45 calls for service, including 22 medical emergencies, two injuries, five traffic accidents and 16 other calls.

Northumberland County Sheriff James R. “Doc” Lyons this week reported charges against 16 individuals.

Felonies

Ricky Avon Gibson Jr., 23, of Kilmarnock was charged December 18 on a direct indictment issued from the Lancaster County Multi-jurisdictional Grand Jury for felony selling/distributing a Schedule I controlled substance, namely N-ethylpentylone. He also was charged on a capias to show cause for failing to comply with his pre-trial supervision. He also was served a misdemeanor warrant for shoplifting from the ABC store in Lancaster County. The arrests were made by the NCSO.

Michael C. Griffin, 28, of Heathsville was charged December 31 with a capias to show cause for violating conditions of his probation.

Tony Marvin Lampkin, 58, of Burgess was charged January 2 with strangulation and assault and battery.

Carla Dionne Hatley, 43, of Clinton, Md., was charged January 3 on a direct indictment issued from the Northumberland County Multi-jurisdictional Grand Jury for selling/distribution of a controlled substance, namely a Schedule 1 drug.

John Justin Hancock, 18, of Heathsville was charged January 4 with possession of child pornography.

Misdemeanors

A Hampton man, 45, was charged December 14 with a capias to show cause for violating his pretrial supervision on a charge of violating a protective order.

A Heathsville man, 52, was charged December 14 on a misdemeanor warrant for driving on a restricted/suspended driver’s license and a summons was issued for impeding traffic.

A Burgess man, 34, was charged December 17 on a failure to appear warrant for an original charge of driving revoked, fifth offense. This was issued from the Northumberland County General District Court.

A Heathsville man, 54, was charged December 21 with violating a protective order.

A Reedville man, 44, was charged December 21 with assault and battery.

A Topping man, 31, was charged December 21 with driving revoked/suspended, third offense; and operating an uninsured vehicle.

A Lottsburg man, 49, was charged December 24 with a capias/attachment of the body from the Northumberland County General District Court for failing to appear and failing to obey a court order. This arrest was made by the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office.

A Weems woman, 23, was charged December 24 with failing to appear in the Northumberland County General District Court. She was arrested by the Norfolk Police Department.

A Callao woman, 58, was charged December 26 with driving under the influence of alcohol, obstruction of justice and driving without a license. She also was charged on a summons for being drunk in public.

A Reedville man, 22, was charged December 29 with possession of marijuana, first offense.

A Farnham woman, 22, was charged January 3 with criminal trespassing and obstruction of justice.

Fire calls

For January 1-6, the Callao VFD responded to a call for medical assistance.

The Fairfields VFD responded to a motor vehicle crash.

EMS calls

For January 1-6, the Northumberland County Emergency Services, Callao Volunteer Rescue Squad, Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad and Northumberland County Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to 13 calls, including 12 medical emergencies and a motor vehicle crash.
