Sheriffs’ Reports 10-10-19

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against three individuals.

A White Stone man, 51, was charged October 4 with violating a protective order.

An Irvington man, 32, was charged October 5 with assault and battery of a family member.

A Jamaica man, 54, was charged October 6 with hit and run: property damage over $1,000; driving while license was revoked; failure to report a vehicle accident to law enforcement; and failure to yield right of way at an uncontrolled intersection.

Activity report

September 30: Staff responded to the 100 block of Whisk Drive for a shooting in the area, and to the 200 block of Shady Lane to check the welfare of a resident after not being able to make contact.

October 1: Staff responded to the 200 block of Beach Road to check the welfare of a resident after a report received from another law enforcement agency, and to the 400 block of Corrotoman Drive for the illegal dumping of trash.

October 2: Staff responded to the 100 block of East Cove Lane to check the welfare of a resident after a report from the neighbors, to Wilson Lane for suspicious activity, and to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road for a domestic disturbance.

October 3: Staff responded to a walk-in report of stolen tools from a residence on Bluffield Lane, to the 200 block of Buzzards Neck Road for a possible suicidal person, and to the 100 block of Gunther Lane for loud music.

October 4: Staff responded to North Main Street for the report of road rage and reckless driving, to the 900 block of Irvington Road for a missing person, to the 1200 block of Iberis Road for suspicious activity, and to the 300 block of Johns Neck Road for a disorderly person.

October 5: Staff responded to Mary Ball and Fleets Bay roads for a traffic crash involving a vehicle versus a deer, to the 1100 block of Mosquito Point Road for a burglary, to the 200 block of Rocky Neck Road for possible automatic gun fire, to the 10500 block of Jessie duPont Memorial Highway to check the welfare of a resident after being alerted by a relative, to the 3900 block of White Chapel Road for a fight in progress, to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road for suspicious activity, to the 300 block of North Main Street for a person with mental issues, to Mary Ball and Ocran roads for a hit and run traffic crash involving two vehicles.

October 6: Staff responded to the 2600 block of Morattico Road for a civil issue involving a rental agreement, to the 1200 block of Morattico Road for suspicious activity, and to the 400 block of West Bay Drive for a verbal disagreement.

Staff also conducted 10 traffic stops, issued three summonses, assisted five motorists, recorded five deer strike accidents, handled eight calls for traffic control, investigated five building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged two inmate transports, received three E911 hang-up calls, and fielded a call for animal control service.

Fire calls

The Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to a brush fire on River Road, and with the White Stone VFD to a brush fire on Little Bay Road.

The Kilmarnock VFD responded to brush fires on Church Street, Jessie Ball duPont Memorial Highway and Good Luck Road, mulch fires on White Pine Drive, a combine fire on Balls Neck Road; a bean field fire on Apple Grove Road and a fire/smoke alarm on Harding Road.

EMS calls

For September 29-October 5, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 31 calls, including 13 medical emergencies, five injuries, a traffic accident, seven fire calls and five other calls.

Northumberland County Sheriff James R. “Doc” Lyons this week reported charges against four individuals.

Felony

Andre Maurice Carter, 35, of Lancaster was charged October 6 with felony possession of a Schedule I or II drug and possession of marijuana.

Misdemeanors

A Vienna man, 24, was charged September 26 on a Northumberland County warrant for driving while being revoked or suspended. The warrant was served by Fairfax County Police Department.

A Heathsville man, 63, was charged October 5 with driving under the influence, second offense in five years; refusal of the breathalyzer, second offense; and driving without a license.

A Heathsville man, 29, was charged October 6 with shoplifting from the Callao Rite Aid.

Fire calls

For the week of September 30-October 7, the Callao VFD responded to 12 calls, including five field/brush fires, four medical calls, two motor vehicle crashes and a fire alarm.

The Fairfields VFD responded to 10 calls, including five field/brush fires, a motor vehicle crash, two fire alarms and two gas leaks.

EMS calls

For the week of September 30-October 7, the Northumberland County Emergency Services, Callao Volunteer Rescue Squad, Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad and Northumberland County Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to 33 calls, including 21 medical calls, four trauma/fall calls, four motor vehicle crashes, three fires and a standby.
