HEATHSVILLE—When it comes to finances at Northumberland schools, the “tide is turning,” Jack Reagan of UHY Advisors told supervisors and school board members at a November 6 joint meeting.
Reagan shared his assessment as part of a requested update by supervisors as he wraps up his work with the county. Reagan said he and his team have been working to “stabilize some of the financial reporting processes.”
When they started working with the county and schools “there were chronic budget deficits over the last several years,” Reagan said. “There were limited periodic financial reports that were provided to management. There were limited periodic financial reports provided to the elected officials and my professional opinion is that because of a lack of training, there were few employees with skills, knowledge and experience to use RDA, which is your computer system, effectively and….
